Its been a long time. I used to post frequently about things I like or find interesting. Everyday a new blog is born. Everyday someone declares him/herself a rapper, producer, dancer, artist, actor, web designer, fashion designer, blogger, promoter, photographer, etc. And regardless of how much people criticize ( I too) people have the right to believe what ever their imaginations allow for. Regardless of truth or fantasy. With that being said Im making a comeback. 

Today must be Dre Day. I was just getting ready to listen to The Chronic 2001. I got side tracked as usual trying to be socially active (twitter, facebook, blogs, etc.) I kept hearing about the new single “Kush” with Dre, Snoop and Akon. So I went to this blog Pop & Hiss L.A. Times Music blog. And read this statement from Dre about an album he plans to release titled “The Planets”.

“It’s just my interpretation of what each planet sounds like. I’m gonna go off on that. Just all instrumental. I’ve been studying the planets and learning the personalities of each planet. I’ve been doing this for about two years now just in my spare time so to speak. I wanna do it in surround sound. It’ll have to be in surround sound for Saturn to work.

Now lets get up to date. In 1976 Isao Tomita released “The Planets”. It is basically everything Dre mentioned above. An album which is based on the characteristics of each planet. Tomita did a good job of this 34 years ago. So now one of the most prolific producers of our time is creating the same thing in 2011. My only concern is will he give Tomita any credit or is this the album that inspired him to do a newer version ? Hopefully Dre will give Tomita his props or at least a nod at some point in time. Time will tell. Just remember what you read and post your thoughts.

Disclaimer: I am in no way insinuating that Dre is bitting. However, if he drops the album and Tomita is not mentioned then you can say that. Plus Im really looking forward to hearing it because I know Dre is a sonic mastermind. I would’nt be surprised if The Planets drops before Detox. We’ll see.
